Who We Are

Leggett Group is the corporate head office for a group of courier and transport businesses we own and operate across Australia. We are transport operators first, and the group exists to make running multiple transport businesses simpler, more consistent and more sustainable for customers, drivers and staff.

We do not operate as an investment vehicle or a short‑term owner. We own these businesses long‑term and remain closely involved in how they are run day to day.

Our Origins

Leggett Group grew out of businesses we built ourselves. Couriers Express Services started in 1988 as a Melbourne courier operation. InTime Distribution came next, set up to handle taxi-truck and freight work the courier side couldn’t.

Both were built the same way: long hours, hands-on involvement, and close working relationships with the owner-drivers doing the actual runs. That’s still how we think. We understand transport from the cab and the dispatch desk because that’s where we did the work.

How We’ve Grown

We’ve added to the group by buying established transport businesses where the fit was right — meaning the service ethos, the customer base and the way the business was run made sense alongside what we already had.

Most of the businesses we’ve acquired were privately owned and run by their founders. That matters to us. It’s the same kind of business we started ourselves, and it’s the kind we know how to operate.

When a business joins the group, we keep the brand. We keep the staff who want to stay. We keep the drivers. What changes is the load on the owner — finance, systems, admin, dispatch coordination, contractor management — that work moves to us.

How We Operate

While our businesses continue to trade under their established brand names, Leggett Group operates them centrally. This allows us to keep systems, oversight and decision‑making consistent across the group.

When a business joins the group, existing staff who wish to continue are retained and owner‑drivers are offered the opportunity to keep working with us. Operations are integrated into shared systems and processes, while customer relationships remain with the brand they know.

Over time, staff and drivers may work across multiple businesses within the group. This helps us balance demand, share experience and maintain reliable service levels.

Our Driver Network

Across the group, we work with a shared pool of owner‑drivers. When we acquire a business, existing drivers are invited to continue working with us, and many go on to work across multiple parts of the group.

This approach increases fleet availability, supports long‑term and experienced drivers, and improves reliability during peak periods. It is a model that works for drivers and delivers better outcomes for customers.

Long‑Term Ownership

We aren’t working to an exit timeline. The plan is to run good transport businesses well, hold onto experienced people, and let the group get steadier and more useful over time.

Our Businesses

Today, Leggett Group owns and operates a number of courier and transport businesses across Australia. Each business continues to trade under its own established brand, supported by a central operating structure and shared resources.
